When Dylan was just 16, his father, Jonathan, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Dylan shared with us what it was like to watch his dad go through treatment: "I didn't really know much about colon cancer other than it was a serious disease that could be deadly if caught late."

However, after his dad explained the treatments and what to expect, Dylan began to understand the gravity of the situation. He realized that his father's diagnosis would affect not just him, but the entire family.

Dylan took on more responsibilities around the house, including cooking and cleaning, while also caring for his older brother with autism. He even created "Camp Kurtz" to keep them both active and engaged during the summer when camps were canceled.
